The Clouds Beneath the Sun by Mackenzie Ford Review

The Clouds Beneath the Sun: A Novel Romance, murder and archeology in the wonderful setting of an excavation in Kenya as well as beautiful descriptions and  well-developed characters. This book  is  wonderfully written by Mackenzie Ford, nom the plume of Peter Watson , a respected historian whose vast knowledge is clearly shown in the novel.

The plot may be considered slightly old-fashioned (in a good way most of the times) but it was certainly a welcome change for me after so many dystopian novels. However, I didn't expect the book to end the way it did ,and although it made complete sense I found it somewhat disappointing.

All in all The Clouds Beneath the Sun is really worth reading and it will take you back to 1961 , to the Serengeti, to learn about the Maasai people and the social upheaval before the independence in Kenya.

Malaysia:Putrajaya Bridges

Not only the buildings, but also the bridges in Putrajaya are outstanding . Seri Gemilang Bridge reminded me of the bridges in Paris. Seri Wawasan Bridge resembles a ship. Putra Bridge looks like a fortress . Seri Perdana Bridge has a typical Islamic style and Seri Saujana Bridge boasts a futuristic design.

Awaken by Katie Kacvinsky: Short Review

Awaken (Awaken, #1) Katie Kacvinsky's novel is about a not so distant future where people are almost isolated from the world  and live and have relationships online instead of outside. The main character wants to live a real life and fights for it even if it means going against her own family.

Living on the Internet is like  being behind a wall that both protects and limits us in many ways.

Food You Know

I love travelling abroad and savouring local delicacies, even if I may not eat them after tasting them. However, off and on I like to go back to the food I know. I just don't want any surprises or peculiar flavours , I need plain food to satisfy my hunger. I  had spent several days in Kuala Lumpur, eating anything but Western food so I headed for an American style restaurant in the Berjaya Times Square mall. No need to question the waiter about the ingredients.
